SPB TV reveals new global trends in OTT TV use

SPB TV, a provider of OTT TV, IPTV and mobile TV solutions, presented new insights and findings from its OTT TV Survey 2015

SPB TV, a provider of OTT TV, IPTV and mobile TV solutions, presented new insights and findings from its OTT TV Survey 2015 with new trends and developments in OTT TV use globally and in emerging markets, based on the audiences input.

Kirill Filippov, CEO of SPB TV, took part in IBC TV Keynote talk Over the Top Comes of Age, discussing growth of online-delivered video and streaming services to satisfy the demand for multiple-device, on-demand TV. “We still believe in live channels but their consumption will change towards new media worldwide. Professional broadcasting evolves but does not disappear. Eventually, the future of TV is in easier and more consumer-friendly formats,” he commented.

At IBC2015 SPB TV AG presented OTT TV Survey 2015. “We surveyed a sample of 60,000 respondents out of our 45 million-user base, in six languages with most respondents from Europe, South America, Middle East, Asia and Africa. Among the key findings, we noticed that while computers are still widely used to watch TV content, compared to the last year, more people use mobile devices – smartphones (from 25 per cent to 44 per cent watching several times a day) and tablets (from 17 per cent to 25 per cent respectively)”, said Sebastian Justus-Schmidt, SPB TV’s co-founder, corporate development. “The survey showed that highly targeted ads solutions are key for end-user satisfaction”.

During the show the company is also showcasing SPB TV Rosing, the TV platform for operators; SPB TV Home, the solution for in-home TV viewing with innovative remote control; and SPB TV Advertising with in-stream detection and replacement. In addition, SPB TV partnered with DTS to bring immersive, cinematic sound to any mobile device.

“SPB TV is a world-class company, and we are thrilled that they have chosen to partner with DTS. The incorporation of DTS audio technologies into SPB TV solutions will ensure the delivery of the most complete entertainment experience possible,” said Geir Skaaden, SVP, corporate business development, digital content and media solutions at DTS.
