TV income for Spanish football’s top two tiers is expected to exceed €2 billion by the end of the 2019/20 season.
La Liga has seen a 10 per cent year-on-year rise thanks to the centralised sale of TV rights, under a law passed by the Spanish government in 2015.
The Ordinary General Assembly of professional clubs claims this has “stimulated a more competitive environment.”
For instance, Telefónica pays €980 million and Mediapro €1.14 billion per year for live rights.
Mediapro also renewed its agreement for international La Liga rights for a fee worth €4.48 billion through 2024.
