Premier Sports to relaunch in the UK on April 9

Premier Sports will include coverage of the Scottish Cup, Scottish League Cup, International football fixtures, LALIGA, and more

Having agreed a deal to buy back its UK business from Swedish video streaming service Viaplay last year, Premier Sports has revealed it is relaunching in the UK on April 9. The company will provide live sports coverage for the Scottish Cup, Scottish League Cup, International football fixtures, LALIGA, URC, NHL, KSW and more.

Viaplay Group bought Premier Sports in July 2022, but a year later made a strategic decision to close down its UK operation and focus on its core business in the Nordics and the Netherlands. Premier Sports announced an agreement to buy back the UK rights from the Swedish broadcaster in November last year.

Following the transition on April 9, the company says current Viaplay Sports customers will experience a seamless transition to Premier Sports. Content will continue to be delivered via the same linear channels on Sky and Virgin, while customers preferring to stream can continue to use Amazon Prime.

With a renewed focus on streaming, Premier Sports will also launch its own enhanced streaming service on launch. The service will feature 24/7 access to the two Premier Sports TV channels and LALIGATV, plus access to all additional key content.

The broadcaster will continue to deliver coverage of the Scottish Cup and exclusive Scottish League Cup along with international football fixtures as part of Euro 2024. Every game from LALIGA will be available alongside coverage from other European competitions including Coppa Italia and DFB Pokal. For rugby fans, every game from the United Rugby Championship will be available live, as well as EPCR Challenge Cup coverage, while select games will also be broadcast from every round of the TOP14. KSW, NHL and NASCAR will continue to be represented.
