Nordic Entertainment Group wins football media rights haul

NENT Group will broadcast up to 1,500 live games a season from five European leagues

MTG’s Nordic Entertainment Group (NENT Group) has secured the exclusive Nordic media rights to Germany’s Bundesliga, France’s Ligue 1, The Netherlands’ Eredivisie, Belgium’s First Division A and the Scottish Premiership until 2021, along with the 2019 Copa América.

NENT Group will broadcast up to 1,500 live games a season on its TV channels and streaming services.

“This is a fantastic and unrivalled offering of international football for our viewers,” said Anders Jensen, NENT Group president and CEO. “With up to 1,500 live games every season from this wide selection of European competitions – complemented by a month of the very best South American football from the Copa América next summer – NENT Group is in a league of its own.”

Meanwhile, NENT Group has also retained the exclusive rights in Sweden, Denmark and Finland to England’s Premier League.

The new three-year deal gives the broadcaster coverage of 232 live games each year, marking a 13 per cent increase on the previous agreement.

The rights package includes matches on Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays and Mondays, along with midweek games and festive fixtures.
