Mediaset and Vivendi are believed to be working on a possible deal to end their long-running legal row as well as revive the Italian broadcaster’s growth strategy.
According to Reuters, sources say the two companies are looking at ways for Mediaset to revive its planned merger of its Italian and Spanish business units into MediaForEurope, which would be based in Amsterdam.
The two CEOs of both companies are said to have spoken earlier this month but a solution is not yet in sight, said the report.
Both companies were back in court in Milan yesterday for a behind closed doors hearing. A ruling is not expected before next year, giving the parties time to seek a compromise.
Both Mediaset and Vivendi have declined to comment on the report.
