Mediaset, Vivendi deal “could be delayed until early next year”

Ruling expected after 10th January

The Mediaset/Vivendi deal could be delayed until early next year, following further reports of gridlock on the latest hearing on 6th December.

Two legal sources said the Milan judge could delay the ruling over Vivendi’s request to suspend Mediaset’s creation of pan-European TV company MediaForEurope (MFE).

If no ruling is made over the next few days, it is expected to come after a 10th January meeting where Mediaset shareholders will be called to approve amendments to MFE’s by-laws.

The two companies have been locked in legal battles for a number of years and failed last week to reach an out-of-court settlement.
