Comcast ‘may try to top Disney’s bid for Fox’

Company could re-enter the fray if AT&T succeeds in bid for Time Warner

Comcast could look to outbid Disney for 21st Century Fox’s media assets if AT&T is successful in its attempt to buy Time Warner.

According to CNBC, if ATandT is given the go-ahead to acquire Time Warner, Comcast could look to try and outbid the Walt Disney Company for Fox assets that Disney agreed to acquire in December.

CNBC, which is owned by Comcast, says no decision has been made yet but Disney “is already preparing itself for a Comcast bid and considering responses in case”.

For £49 billion stock, Disney will take ownership of film businesses including 20th Century Fox, Fox Searchlight Pictures and Fox 2000, along with the television creative units, 20th Century Fox Television, FX Productions and Fox 21.

Disney will also acquire FX Networks, National Geographic Partners, Fox Sports Regional Networks, Fox Networks Group International, Star India and Fox’s interests in Hulu, Sky, Tata Sky and Endemol Shine Group.
