Disney exploring use of artificial intelligence ‘across all its businesses’

According to reports, a special task force is looking at how the company could develop AI-based applications in house as well as work with third parties

Disney has reportedly established a task force to look at how it could use artificial intelligence across its businesses.

According to Reuters, the task force is looking at how the company could develop AI-based applications in house as well as work with third parties.

The task force was established before the start of both the writers and actors strikes that currently have Hollywood pretty much shut down. AI and its uses is a significant issue in both disputes.

The report states the company is currently looking to recruit experts in AI and machine learning across all of its divisions, including the engineering group, television and advertising technology.

It quotes an unnamed source who said Disney employed machine learning to develop robot based on Baby Groot in the Guardians of the Galaxy franchise which mimics the character’s movement.
