BTI buys Berliner Synchron GmbH

Move will expand its dubbing services in key territories

Localisation company BTI Studios has bought German dubbing studio Berliner Synchron GmbH from S&L Medien Gruppe as it seeks to boost its global presence.

Founded in 1949, Berliner Synchron GmbH was the first dubbing studio in Germany and has dubbed more than 8000 titles into German including The Godfather, Star Wars 1-6, Ice Age 1-5, Jurassic World, Breaking Bad, Fargo and Mr Robot.

The deal follows BTI’s acquisition of Dutch dubbing company Creative Sounds last month, which will increase BTI’s offering to 63 recording studios across 24 facilities spanning Europe, the US and Asia.

“The acquisition of Berliner Synchron is an important cornerstone in the geographic expansion of BTI Studios. It fits well into our strategy to establish presence in all key dubbing territories,” said Björn Lifvergren, BTI Studios founder and leader of the M&A team.
