BBC working on interactive drama for Alexa and Google Home

The drama will be released later this year

The BBC will release an interactive drama that allows the listener to shape the story later this year.

Produced by the R&D team and Rosina Sound, The Inspection Chamber casts the listener as a character within the story that the narrator interacts with. The listener is asked questions as the story progresses and their answers shape where it goes. The BBC said this is to keep the listener as immersed int he drama as possible.

The experience will be available on both Google Assistant and Amazon Alexa when it launches, but the engine it’s built on is cross-platform, which means it could be available on more voice assistants in the future.

The experience will be released via the BBC Taster platform later this year, a short demonstration video of the software is available on the BBC R&D Blog.
