BBC Studios recruits genre director

Boundless managing director Hannah Wyatt named genre director for factual entertainment and events

BBC Studios has named Hannah Wyatt as its genre director for factual entertainment and events.

Wyatt, currently managing director of Boundless, will oversee the creative, commercial, and operational strategy of the business, and will sit on BBC Studios’ executive committee.

Wyatt will be responsible for Top Gear whilst also having an overview of theAuntie Productions label, which produces Amazing Hotels, The Life Swap Adventure and In Your Ear.

She will also preside over events such as Festival Of Remembrance, Cenotaph and Passchendaele, as well as being responsible for developing new factual entertainment formats, namely to ensure the continued creative growth of IP in such a key genre.

Mark Linsey, director, BBC Studios said: “Having split BBC Studios’ entertainment, music and events into two distinct areas, I had a very clear idea about who could lead this incredibly important part of our business and am delighted to attract someone of Hannah’s experience and calibre to BBC Studios.

“I’ve always admired her entrepreneurial, creative and strategic approach and think she will bring renewed vigour and do wonders in driving our business forward.”

Wyatt added: “I am excited to join Mark’s team and be part of shaping BBC Studios’ future as a creative centre and supplier of world class content. BBC Studios has great talent, real scale and huge potential to grow more.

“My time at Boundless has been fantastic and I’ll continue to work with the terrific team here until I take up my new role.”

Wyatt joined Boundless in March 2014 as creative director and rose to managing director in July 2015, where she oversaw the programme slate including The Apprentice and Grand Designs.

Prior to her roles at Boundless, Wyatt was at Mentorn as director of programmes, rising from head of factual entertainment and features. Whilst there she was responsible for The Fried Chicken Shop, Hotel Of Mum And Dad and The Hairy Bikers Mississippi Adventure.
