Amazon is said to be preparing to bid for the rights to show Italian football’s Serie A.
According to Bloomberg, the company has met with representatives of the league about potentially streaming matches on its Amazon Prime Video platform.
The streamer already holds exclusive rights to the Champions League in Italy for the 2021-2024 seasons. Sky currently holds the rights to Serie A.
The league has set a deadline of 26th January to sell the rights to the next three seasons, and is thought to be looking for at least €1.15 billion per season.
Amazon already holds the rights to a number of matches in the English Premier League, and is said to be looking at adding Formula One to its sports content.
