Thank you for the music? First AI-generated music TV presenters to debut in UK, US

According to FastStream Interactive, which operates the ROXi channels, virtual TV presenters "bring a new level of entertainment to interactive TV"

Music TV channel ROXi is introducing what it says is the first AI-generated TV music presenters in the UK and United States.

The presenters will appear on the ROXi TV music channel on Sky in the UK and Ireland, and in the US on broadcast TV in 31 US TV markets on NEXTGEN TV with Sinclair and Gray.

“ROXi’s innovative new virtual TV presenters bring a new level of entertainment to interactive TV, delivering far more engaging viewer experiences than would be possible if we were using normal TV production facilities and actors,” said Rob Lewis, CEO of FastStream Interactive, which operates the channels.

“With AI we can have ROXi presenters introducing Beyoncé from a yacht moored off her favourite Caribbean Island without having to hire and fly in a production team or charter the yacht.”

The move follows the recent discussion over the use of AI actors following the introduction of Tilly Norwood. Lewis said FastStream can understand why some actors and presenters are worried about AI, but the company believes AI has “the power to transform TV entertainment, making it far more interactive, contextually relevant, and entertaining, especially for younger consumers”.

“Ultimately, we need to embrace AI-generated talent and interactive TV experiences if we’re to attract younger viewers on TV.”
