Televisión Española (TVE) has awarded Panasonic the contract for the supply of ENG equipment for high-quality HD recording and news/OB units for the next three years. As a result, TVE will be purchasing more than 270 items with Panasonic P2 solid-state HD technology.
TVE will purchase a minimum of 20 AJ-HPX3100 P2HD camcorders to capture images in documentaries, promotions or reports, along with 70 AG-HPX500 camcorders (pictured) for use by local stations and foreign units. The company is also purchasing 70 AJ-PCD2 reader units, 70 AG-HPG20 portable sound recorders and AJ-HPD2500 decks.
The adoption of solid state-based capture technology is said to have multiple advantages in terms of economic and environmental commitment, as well a boost to general efficiency. TVE will also benefit from the reusable P2 memory card, which eliminates the costs and waste generated by tape recycling.
Panasonic P2HD camcorders and sound recorders have no moving parts and are covered by a five-year warranty, five-day repair service and on-line service management.
Toni Feliu, country manager of PAVCSE (Panasonic Audio Visual Company Systems Europe) in Spain, commented: “The quality/price ratio of the AJ-HPX3100 camcorder, the compatibility of its formats and its low weight and energy consumption make this equipment a sound choice for the future. One example is the incorporation of the AVC-Intra 50 and100 Mbps codec as standard in this model. Televisión Española’s outside broadcast systems will also gain the benefit of P2 technology thanks to its durability of format, the speed of its field work system and the fact that it is not dependent on wearing materials.
