Viaplay Group agrees to sell Dutch broadcast and streaming operations

The sale, which is subject to regulatory approval, aims to allow Viaplay Group to focus on operations in its core Nordic markets, said the company

Viaplay Group has announced an agreement to sell its Dutch broadcast and streaming operation to Videoland.

The sale, which will be subject to the approval of the regulatory authorities and Viaplay’s lenders, will not result in changes to the Group’s full year 2026 financial targets or long-term ambitions outlined in its 2026 Q1 Interim Report. Transaction and restructuring costs of the sale, along with provisions and balance sheet effects,  will be reported as items affecting comparability in the financial results following closing, said the company.

Videoland, owned by DPG Media, will acquire the Dutch operations, which generated sales of EU 149 million (approximately SEK 1.65 billion) last year, on a cash and debt free basis for a reported EU 142 million (approximately SEK 1.57 billion)

Jørgen Madsen Lindemann, Viaplay Group president and CEO, said, “The sale is in line with our strategic transformation and the priority to focus on the Group’s operations in our core Nordic markets, where we have the greatest scale and synergies. The proceeds of the sale will enable us to accelerate the deleveraging and strengthening of the Group’s financial profile. It follows on the transformational acquisition of the remaining 50 per cent of Allente Group, and subsequent refinancing, at the end of last year. We are delighted that a Dutch business with such strong local roots is acquiring the operations, and will be able to focus on developing them further moving forward.”
