UPC Ireland to rebrand as Virgin Media

UPC Ireland, provider of digital TV, broadband and phone services in the country, has announced it is to move to the Virgin Media brand

UPC Ireland, provider of digital TV, broadband and phone services in the country, has announced it is to move to the Virgin Media brand. The company is planning to launch a mobile phone service later this year as part of a Mobile Virtual Network Operator agreement with Three. UPC Ireland became part of Virgin Media, Liberty Global’s UK subsidiary, in December 2014.

All UPC Ireland’s operations, products and services will move to the new Virgin Media brand with further details to be announced in due course.

“Introducing the Virgin Media brand to Ireland is a big investment in our business and our future,” said Magnus Ternsjö, CEO of UPC Ireland. “In almost every corner of the world, the Virgin brand is famous for its entrepreneurial spirit in delivering more for customers, which is exactly what we’re going to do by building even further on all our innovation and achievements to date.”

As UPC, the Company has made an investment in its fibre powered next generation network, which delivers digital entertainment and communications services, including broadband.

Tom Mockridge, Virgin Media CEO has promised “some exciting plans in the pipeline to step up competition for consumers which we will announce in due course.”

Virgin Media is a part of international cable company Liberty Global. Together Virgin Media and Liberty Global serve 27 million customers across 14 countries.
