SIS LIVE is commissioning high bandwidth dedicated fibre networks to key sports and leisure venues across the UK. The company is currently installing new enhanced fibre links to all Premier League football grounds, providing connectivity to its expanding broadcast infrastructure.
The installation includes two 24/7 network operations centres and teleports in Milton Keynes and MediaCityUK, Salford, for national and international transmission services and monitoring. SIS LIVE already operates a fibre network between its transmission sites, major broadcasters, network operators and UK sports stadiums. The plan, to be completed by August 2014, will see permanent fibre connectivity to 50 sports stadiums.
David Meynell, managing director, SIS LIVE, said: “By recently securing a major contract for Premier League football coverage, we have been able to expedite our fibre roll out programme. I am extremely proud of our technical solution, which positions us for rapid growth and is a significant step in SIS LIVE’s strategy to become the leading supplier of media fibre and SNG services to the UK market.”
SIS LIVE aims to have installed over 100 sports and leisure venues to its permanent fibre infrastructure by 2016. Features of the new fibre services include high-bandwidth internet connectivity, voice communications and reverse vision feeds. Additional services include broadcast in 4K, and COFDM wireless camera links at some venues, which allow roving TV reporters to link into the fibre network and deliver multiple live video streams.
