Netflix is the “world’s first global TV network” according to CEO Reed Hastings.
He was talking about the streamer’s move into Asian content, which is expected to include 17 new original shows from Japan, India, Thailand and a Chinese-language series from Taiwan.
“That is the beginning of very positive transformative force,” Hastings said, and will help Asian content and talent reach wider, new audiences.
Hastings touted the advantages of global sharing, and personalisation: “There has never been a global TV network until now,” he told the audience at an event to promote Netflix’s move into Asia.
