La Liga plans to use AI to optimise match scheduling in order to maximise TV viewing figures.
The AI-driven software will be deployed to put together next month’s league fixture list in a way that exploits primetime TV slots, both in Spain and internationally, as well as maximising stadium attendance.
La Liga president Javier Tebas ruled out the possibility of scheduling games during the Christmas period due to opposition from the players’ union.
The announcement follows the news that La Liga’s second division matches will be made available for free on YouTube.
