Globecast provides D-Day support

Globecast has provided services for the international coverage of the 70th anniversary of the D-Day landings.

Globecast has provided services for the international coverage of the 70th anniversary of the D-Day landings.

The landings of the Allies at Normandy coast, precipitating the end of World War Two, were commemorated on 6 June in France. Across Normandy, multiple events were organised to memorialise the historic turning point.

Globecast is known for providing media management and playout solutions as well as global content delivery via fibre, satellite, and IP. Through its fleet of SNG vehicles and production partners, the company also provides coverage of news, sports, and special events around the globe.

For the D-Day memorial coverage, Globecast provided both ad hoc services and international coverage. The company supplied the international host broadcaster signal and all the main pool signals from the main commemoration sites. It also had three stand-up positions for ad-hoc clients who wanted to cover the event, including complete transmission services as required.

Marie-Noelle Janaszkiewicz, senior sales engineer at Globecast, said, “The 70th anniversary of the D-Day landings is clearly a very important event and one that reverberates around the world. We are honoured to have contributed to bringing it to as wide an audience as possible. ”
