Altice threatens action over PSG’s illegal Facebook stream

Altice is the exclusive rights owner for the UEFA Champions League in France

Altice France is considering legal action against Paris Saint-Germain and Facebook after the club illegally streamed their match against Manchester United on 12th February.

Altice owns exclusive rights to the UEFA Champions League in France. Facebook is now investigating the issue.

PSG said the incident was a geolocalisation error, accidentally making the Brazilian stream accessible in France.

The CEO of Altice explained that the Brazilian channel that owns the rights made the stream available on Facebook but “a lack of control on the platform” caused the breach, emphasising the global problem of piracy for rights holders.
