Zodiak Rights runs Marquis’ Project Parking

Zodiak Rights, the international distribution and rights exploitation division of Zodiak Media, has saved time and improved editorial flexibility with Marquis Broadcast’s archive and retrieve solution: Project Parking.

Zodiak Rights has saved time and improved editorial flexibility with Marquis Broadcast’s archive and retrieve solution: Project Parking. Zodiak Rights, the international distribution and rights exploitation division of Zodiak Media, has used Project Parking to help create multiple promos for various projects including material for miptv and mipcom. “We might need to create tailored promos for formats which have been sold to multiple different countries,” explained Mark Glennon, head of post production at Zodiak Rights. “Similarly, we often need to create different variations of the same material, where the programming content has been sold to a new region. Project Parking has been invaluable to assist with this process. “Project Parking is an archive and restore solution which allows us to create a complete copy of any project onto any storage device,” continued Glennon. “Previously, we would lay out a flattened file as a master, then need to go back and find all original material in multiple locations to re-create the rushes to make a new promo version if required. This was a labour intensive process. However, now by using Project Parking, we don’t need to scrub the rushes to free up the edit storage as we can store the project and all the media files associated with it together, offline. “From an editorial perspective, because this avoids the need to recreate the original edit, we can simply find and tailor the content as necessary,” confirmed Glennon. “Time is saved and we also have infinitely more editorial flexibility due to the ease of access of the files. The team has described Project Parking as flawless. It is simple to use and gets the job done.” Project Parking Version 3, will be demonstrated for the first time at BVE and at NAB 2013. The new version enables editors to analyse all the projects and media on their edit storage by size, project, location, age, duplicated or orphaned files and then archive files to second tier storage, or delete unused media at the touch of a button, take snapshots of versions of projects, or move from one location to another, while still maintaining a usable and easily accessible format for future use.www.marquisbroadcast.comwww.marquisbroadcast.com/personal-project-parking.html
