Wycombe Film Studios plan axed

Plans for a temporary facility had been granted 'prior approval' last year

A planned film studio complex at Wycombe Air Park is “unlikely to progress” according to Buckinghamshire County Council.

Prior approval had been granted to Wycombe Film Studios, allowing five workshops and a temporary backlot to be placed on land at Wycombe Air Park.

However, in a report to cabinet on January 2nd, the council stated it believes the company, which is now known as Wycombe Park Ltd, isĀ “unlikely to progress a film studio development, because the landscape has changed commercially and from a funding perspective.”

The council has signalled its intention to enter negotiations with the tenant for the site’s disposal, with a potential new application being submitted seeking permission for a data centre. Plans for a data centre had formed part of a previous application by Wycombe Film Studios.

Filming at the facility had been expected to begin between April and May, with permission for activities extended to November.
