ToolsOnAir will showcase its TV Station in a Mac mini at this year’s NAB.
The appearance comes on the back of ToolsOnAir announcing the first installations of its TV Station in a Mac mini broadcast server solution. These include Dutch music TV station Xite, which now employs two Mac minis to run its entire video playout service, including full 24/7 programming and video on demand.
“We replaced our entire proprietary hardware system with a pair of Mac minis, with two spares for backup,” said Luc Vleugels, Xite’s technical director. “With the ToolsOnAir solution, we have a more flexible and more future-proof solution than we had before, for a fraction of the cost.”
Utilising the latest Apple Mac mini hardware, ToolsOnAir is helping to drive the next generation of cost effective Channel in a Box broadcast solutions. Using ToolsOnAir’s just:play software, an Apple Mac mini becomes an HD broadcast quality playout, automation and real time graphics server, consuming only 85 Watts of power and housed in only one broadcast rack unit (1RU).
In combination with the AJA Video IoXT video device, connected via Thunderbolt technology, the channel provides a 24/7 music programme in high definition with advanced real-time graphics. SL8108
