StreamZHD powers Games archive encoding

Digital Rapids’ award-winning StreamZHD encoders were chosen to power archive encoding at the IBC during the 2010 Commonwealth Games.

Digital Rapids’ award-winning StreamZHD encoders were chosen to power archive encoding at the IBC during the 2010 Commonwealth Games.

A consortium of Shaf Broadcast India and Global Television Australia set up the International Broadcasting Centre (IBC) for host broadcaster, Doordarshan Prasar Bharati Corporation. StreamZHD was used to encode archives of the opening ceremonies, closing ceremonies and daily highlights packages from HD and SD source feeds. Digital Rapids encoders were also used by other third-party broadcast rights holders to stream the event to the web.

The XIX Commonwealth Games was the largest international sporting event of its kind ever hosted in Delhi, bringing together athletes from 71 nations and territories.

Said Pradeep Kohli, Director of Shaf Broadcast: “Digital Rapids was part of a very select group of key technology providers chosen by the consortium for this prestigious event. The unmatched encoding quality and reliability of StreamZHD made it the perfect choice for this project.”

“Broadcasters and media organisations worldwide count on our solutions to deliver the exceptional visual quality and reliability demanded by high-profile events of this importance, and we’re pleased that StreamZHD was selected for use at the 2010 Commonwealth Games,” said Clive Vickery, Managing Director, EMEA and Asia at Digital Rapids.
