Sky goes for Chyron cloud graphics

Sky Sports News in the UK is to be the first European broadcaster to implement Axis World Graphics from Chyron. The cloud-based content creation platform is implemented within a BlueNet workflow that also features graphics management, remote monitoring and playout from Chyron.
“We felt Chyron was best suited to a news operation working with a high volume of data,” said Darren Long, director of operations at Sky Sports News. “Fetures such as integrated order management made it very easy for our staff to order graphics from the desktop, view them and request or make any necessary changes.
“Immediately following implementation of the Chyron workflow, we saw a distinct and welcome change in the look of our broadcast product.”
The news and graphics teams are on different floors of the new Sky Studios facility, so the order management system is an essential part of the solution. Orders are created within the iNews newsroom system, which also allows them to be checked and corrected.
Once created the graphics are pushed through the Chyron Camio cluster server to one of 10 HyperX graphics systems for playout. These support the MOS protocol, so work with the newsroom computer to ensure the correct graphics are broadcast at the right time.
