RR Media selects Argosy for new European media centre

A range of infrastructure products from Argosy including equipment racks, Image 360 and 1000 HD cables, connectors, patch panels and mains distributions units (MDUs) have been chosen by RR Media to form the backbone of its new global media centre in London

A range of infrastructure products from Argosy including equipment racks, Image 360 and 1000 HD cables, connectors, patch panels and mains distributions units (MDUs) have been chosen by RR Media to form the backbone of its new global media centre in London.

A provider of global digital media services to the broadcast and media industries, RR Media moved its operations to its new building in Acton, west London in June. The new bespoke build provides a wide range of digital media solutions including content preparation, playout and online video services for live, global and local multi-screen delivery.

With the new RR Media home being three times the size of its previous facility, RR Media needed a large array of racks to house all the broadcast equipment needed to route the signals around the facility and deliver them across the distribution network.

“We chose Argosy equipment for a number of reasons but a significant factor was the breadth and quality of the company’s product offering, in particular their new equipment racks which ensured easy installation at our new facility,” said Simon Kay, managing director of RR Media Europe. “Argosy has a solid understanding of our business and was able to deliver the high-quality products needed to support the implementation of the new facility and they did so on time, and within budget.”

The Argosy-designed equipment rack is designed to maximise access to cables making it easy to install. It also allows customers like RR Media to incorporate additional sets of cable trays where intensive cabling is required, and to change the positioning of mounting profiles to allow quick relocation to suit the customers’ individual requirements.

“We aim to understand our customers’ business drivers and timescales and are delighted to have been involved in RR Media’s relocation project in west London,” said John Sears, senior field sales engineer at Argosy. “This was a demanding project in terms of the fast turnarounds needed to facilitate this move. We strive to continuously deliver the highest quality products in the shortest possible time, to help meet our client’s exacting requirements.”
