Qatar TV and its sister network, the Al Kass Sports Channel have selected Elemental Technologies video processing systems to stream video content. The leading Arabic networks are using solutions from Elemental to process and deliver video for distribution to a worldwide audience on mobile phones and tablets, generate additional advertising revenue and prepare for the World Cup 2022.
“Our state-of-the-art broadcast operations rival any in the global media market today and are future-proofed to support major events in the future, such as the 2022 World Cup,” said Essa Ahmad Al Hitmi, Al Kass head of IT broadcast. “Powerful video processing systems from Elemental enable us to offer fresh content to millions of viewers through a refined mobile experience. The company’s leading-edge support of real-time 4K/HEVC is vital as we undertake early preparation for the biggest sports event in Qatari history.”
Elemental Live, Elemental Server and Elemental Conductor systems transcode up to 14 hours daily of HD live content, video on-demand (VoD) for catch-up TV, and cinematic content, delivering 25 HLS adaptive outputs for portable devices. The state-owned broadcasters also use solutions from Elemental as an archiving system.
“Qatar TV and Al Kass represent some of the strongest media brands in the Middle East,” said John Nemeth (pictured), VP sales EMEA for Elemental. “We are excited to provide the format, protocol and codec agility needed to meet multiscreen video requirements today as well as those that lie ahead with our software-based video processing solutions.”
