Danish broadcast production start up NIMB TV has launched the country’s first Ultra HD mobile unit, in the form of a three-wheeled scooter van. Powering the 4K playout from the mobile unit, Softron’s OnTheAir Video Express was chosen to deliver convenient and reliable high-quality UltraHD performance from standard MacOS hardware.
Designed for news production and live shows, OnTheAir Video Express supports the major codecs, and features mix-and-match resize, GPI triggers, cue mode, playback, multiple outputs on one Mac, clip trimming, clip end behaviours, and scrubbing. It uses Softron’s new Smart Playout Engine which features capabilities for television and web stream playout from the MacOS platform. Users can mix content clips at different resolutions and codecs without having to reformat the video to a different size or re-render it to a different codec.
“We have to congratulate NIMB TV and Softron reseller Stjernholm & Co for squeezing such amazing capability into a super-miniaturised package,” said Daniel Tapie, CEO of Softron Media Services. “OnTheAir Video is really perfectly matched for such an environment because it makes the configuration and operation of broadcast or WebTV playout so simple – for any resolution.”
Fully equipped for multi camera 4K production, the NIMB TV’s new compact van is booked for a season of live broadcast productions and big screen events.
