A mini HD camera system from Austrian specialist Indiecam is another option for shooting remote controllable 3D action. Two IndiePOV cameras can be linked together with control system IndieTwin.

The IndiePOV incorporates a 2/3-inch CMOS imager and delivers 1080p HD at up to 30 frames per second in 10 bit uncompressed 4:2:2 or RAW modes. The camera measures 40 x 40 x 100 millimetres and weighs just 170 grammes. It is especially well suited for 3D and other multi-camera-applications because it offers Genlock-Sync through a second 3G-SDI connector. Multiple IndiePOVs can be daisy-chained and simultaneously configured via one remote connection.
The standard model has a C-mount 25 millimetre lens attachment with adjustable back-focus with optional PL-mount. The IndiePOV was demonstrated on the Polecam stand at IBC.

“The IndiePOV is one of the finest miniature cameras ever brought to market and is ideal for use across our entire range of portable support systems,” comments Polecam’s Managing Director, Steffan Hewitt. “It can be used in single-camera, 3D and multi-camera modes. The build quality is also superb and the value for money nothing short of breathtaking.”
Also from Indiecam is the IndieTwin, described as a flexible 3D-camera system and designed to make the setup and operation of a handheld 3D camera quick and easy.
At the centre of the system is the IndieShuttle for recording and camera-control. It can be used with two IndiePOV cameras for RAW and YUV uncompressed recording via HDSDI connection, or with any other broadcast standard HDSDI camera-pair. “The IndieTwin is entirely operated with a detachable remote control that can be attached to any part of the camera for different shooting situations,” says the manufacturer. “You can add as many remote controls as you wish to an IndieTwin system if some parameters have to be controlled continuously by different persons. All important system information including histograms etc. are displayed on a full colour OLED display in the remote-control itself. “As we add features to the IndieShuttle, we will also issue additional versions of the remote control. For instance, once the control of 3D-rigs is implemented, we will offer a remote control with separate interfaces for interocular and convergence.”
