Front Porch Digital, DMI ink archive deal

Content migration and management specialist Front Porch Digital has announced that the television broadcast operation of Dubai Media Inc (DMI) will base its new archive structure on the DIVArchive content storage management (CSM) solution.

Content migration and management specialist Front Porch Digital has announced that the television broadcast operation of Dubai Media Inc (DMI) will base its new archive structure on the DIVArchive content storage management (CSM) solution.

The archive- to be located at Dubai Media’s existing facility adjacent to the Al Maktoum Bridge in Dubai – is part of DMI’s plan to establish an enterprise-wide, file-based workflow integration all operations, including broadcast and business.

At DMI, the DIVArchive installation will comprise nearline storage, a robotic data tape library, and transcoding servers — all integrated under management of DIVArchive software. When the initial phase of the project is complete, content from the DIVArchive-managed system will feed Harmonic Omneon playout servers under the control of a Pebble Beach automation system.

“Implementing an archive solution based on Front Porch Digital’s DIVArchive will be advantageous to DMI from both an operational and a technological perspective, besides aligning with our ambitious growth strategy,” said Hassan Chahine, corporate technology and engineering adviser at DMI. “I am confident that DIVArchive’s uniquely flexible platform will enable DMI to make both content it generates and content it acquires available in the digital domain for broadcast operation and for delivery to new media platforms.”

“In identifying the best solution to support seamless content management for their archive, DMI sought one with enough built-in versatility to integrate seamlessly with legacy systems and with a future digital asset management solution,” said Rino Petricola, Front Porch Digital’s senior vice-president and managing director. “With hundreds of installations worldwide, DIVArchive offers proven, reliable support for more DAM systems than any other CSM solution. For DMI, Front Porch Digital was a natural choice.”
