As well as a packed conference programme and showfloor, this year’s Broadcast Live, which takes place from 19th-21st June, at Earls Court 2, will feature a range of free sessions that are being hosted by Sony, Ahead Training, Sonic and Apple.

The free sessions held by Sony will take place in the Victoria Room. Each day starts with a session on high quality audio for HD productions, providing some sound advice for TV and video producers and delivered by Total Audio Solutions. Throughout the day, visitors can then learn about important broadcasting technologies such as tapeless production with XDCAM HD, providing tips on camera use in the field, workflow benefits and customer testimonials. Sony will also be demonstrating HDCAM and beyond, showing viewers the industry workhorse and Sony’s flagship HD format.

Ahead Training’s free sessions will take place at Stand B79 throughout the duration of the show, with many sessions concentrating on the comparisons between Avid and Apple. For example, the first session of the day centres around Final Cut Pro for Avid Experts, presenting a guide to Final Cut Pro for the Avid ear. This is then matched by the What’s New in FCP, where visitors can find out what Apple have in store for 2007, with an expert guide to some advanced tips and tricks. Ahead Training will also be delivering a session on Colour grading in a nonlinear world, presenting a professional graders guide to FCP and Avid finishing.

The free sessions held by Sonic will take place in the Whitehall Room throughout the duration of the show. Each day starts with an Introduction to HD DVD and Blu-ray Disc Title Production, discussing the fundamentals for growing the HD business. Sonic will also be holding a session on Asset Preparation, Video Encoding and Graphics and are offering one on one meetings and demos.

Last but certainly not least, Apple will be holding free sessions at the Apple Solution Experts booth, Stand C60. Throughout the day, the powerful new creative tools inside Apple’s Final Cut Studio 2 will be showcased, with demonstrations of the suite being interspersed with real-world facilities telling it their way. There will also be the chance to discuss specific areas of interest with one of the Solutions Experts themselves.
