Earls Court trains for Broadcast LIVE

With all the news from NAB still fresh in our minds, we look forward to the next broadcasting event of the year, Broadcast LIVE 2007. From the 19-21 June at Earls Court 2, this exhibition will cover all aspects of the content chain through Create, Manage and Deliver. This year, the theme is Future Proof or Future Shock, writes Fergal Ringrose.

As well as a headline timetable of influential industry speakers, there will also be over 200 exhibitors reflecting the content chain through the Create, Manage and Deliver zones. Free training sessions will also feature in each area, to give you a first-hand look at a truly tapeless post production workflow designed and integrated on the exhibition floor.

There are many new exhibitors at Broadcast LIVE this year. JVC, Apple UK and Panasonic are some of the better-known entrants. Companies such as Vividas and C3, who are situated right at the cutting edge of the new broadcasting platforms, will be dedicating special pod zones to both IPTV and mobile technologies.

Alongside the feature areas and new exhibitors, a full conference programme will take place, with each day focusing on a different topic. Tuesday focuses on The World of Multimedia Content Creation, Management and Delivery, opening with Stephen Nuttall of BskyB, discussing the realisation of a multi-platform content strategy. The day concludes with a presentation on commercial opportunities for converged content, presented by experienced content director’s such as Lisa Opie from Five TV and Patrick Walker from Google.

Wednesday focuses on Maximising ROI on the New Broadcast Technology Shaping your Business, with a keynote address from Mary Turner, CEO of Tiscali, on waking up to IPTV in the UK: implications for the traditional TV industry.

Thursday focuses on Recognising Change, Preparing for the Future, Pre-empting the Market, with the final session of the conference outlining upcoming technology and a taste of the future: 10 technologies to watch for, with a panel comprising of industry experts such as Simon Fell of ITV and Jim Greaves of Sony Europe.
