Alcorn McBride has released a high frame rate Ultra HD player, Carbon 4K, that can play back up to 60fps at 4K, with frame accurate video synchronisation.

It has Quad 3G HD-SDI with embedded audio and Quad HDMI output, and can update content via Ethernet, and Genlock input.

It is claimed to be ideal for 3D applications, or large LED walls, as well as other applications where high frame rate playback is required.

It is a solid-state player, using removable Compact Flash cards that can store hours of HD or UHD content (CF cards up to 128GB are currently available). It has four HD (1080p) video channels (or one 4K channel – 3840x2160p), and uses either H.264 (MPEG-4 part 10) MP & HP level 4.2 or MPEG-2 MP@HL compression, with a maximum bitrate of 40Mbps. Control is via playlisting, Ethernet, serial or GPIO.

The 3RU system weighs 11kg, and requires up to 350W of power (110-240v).
