Lauched this week at IBC, Matrox VS4 is an HD-SDI capture card for use with Telestream Wirecast for Windows webcasting software. In a single PCIe slot, Matrox VS4 provides up to four independent HD-SDI inputs with up to 16 embedded audio channels per SDI source, “taking up an absolute minimum of the precious real estate inside a PC”, according to Matrox. The VS4 sends video feeds to Wirecast for streaming, and simultaneously records all the original video and audio feeds to disk. “Live streaming professionals are striving for more ways to engage their audience, making multi-camera shoots more important,” said Barbara DeHart, vice president of marketing at Telestream. “Telestream Wirecast allows producers to easily switch between multiple live camera feeds from Matrox VS4, and also provides production features such as chroma key, transitions, 3D graphics, lower-thirds, virtual sets, and built-in scoreboard templates.” Alberto Cieri, senior director of sales and marketing at Matrox, added: “it couldn’t be simpler – just hook up cameras, start Wirecast, and stream. Matrox VS4 automatically detects the presence, resolution, and frame rate of the inputs so onsite set-up is effortless.” Priced at €1,295, Matrox VS4 will be available in November. – Carolyn Giardina7.B29
