The British Comedy Awards gets Creative treatment

Working on behalf of CPL Productions, Creative Technology (CT) has been commissioned to supply the LED and plasma screens for The British Comedy Awards, which returns to Fountain Studios. CT will be delivering the solutions for on-set video and graphics, autocue displays and press room video relay for the ceremony, which will be broadcast on Channel 4 next week.

Hosted by Jonathan Ross and transmitted on Channel 4, the evening aims to bring together the top talent in the industry to acknowledge and celebrate the continued success of British television comedy, showcasing some of the most successful comedy moments of the year.

In the centre of the stage a 4m x 4m Flyer 12 LED screen is visible through the middle of the iconic circus-themed stage dressing, sitting behind a back projection surface to create a subtle diffusion for the graphics. In addition, CT is also providing the two 3.2m x 2m Barco C5 LED screens seen either side of the stage which will be used to display the British Comedy Awards’ graphic and various video clips throughout the evening.

CT’s sister company Fountain Studios has been the venue of choice for the last four years due in part to the studio being able to accommodate over 700 guests, a public audience and the dramatic Circus-themed set designed by Richard Drew. “The technical facilities at Fountain are second to none with up to thirteen cameras in operation during the event,” said Peter Pearson, line producer for the BCA/CPL Productions.
