Sonic Solutions’ Roxio Blu-ray Disc (BD) software has been selected by Fujitsu to power its Deskpower TX95S/D; expected to be the first desktop computer available with an integrated Blu-ray Disc drive when it launches in Japan at the end of June, Fujitsu’s Deskpower TX95S/D leads into a new era of high definition optical recording on the PC.
“Sonic’s design win with Fujitsu underscores the performance, quality and know-how Sonic brings to PC Blu-ray editing, recording and playback,” said Richard Doherty, research director for The Envisioneering Group. “Sonic is well prepared to craft authoring and playback solutions for PC makers, CE device manufacturers and consumers now eager to embrace the quality and performance of high definition.”
Roxio digital media software for Blu-ray Disc enables the robust backup of up to 50GB of data on a double layer BD-R (recordable) or BD-RE (rewritable) disc. Roxio also includes an Easy Archive component to enable users to copy multiple non-protected optical discs to a single BD-R or BD-RE disc.
Koki Terui, Sonic’s senior vice president of Asia Pacific Rim operation said, “Sonic is successfully leveraging the expertise gained supplying high definition tools and technologies for Hollywood to create compelling Blu-ray Disc solutions for a wide range of CE and PC manufacturers.”
