The 4K World Summit opens in Seville next week, offering delegates the opportunity to see live experimental tests of UHD transmission, screenings of UHD audiovisual productions, demos of 4K equipment, round tables and more.
A host of speakers has been confirmed for the event, including Thierry Fautier, UHD Forum; David Wood, EBU; and Andy King, BBC Academy.
Fautier will discuss how 4K-UHD needs specific distribution channels and OTT platforms, and will detail the challenges facing UHD today.
Wood chairs the DVB group CM-UHDTV which detailed the requirements for the first UHDTV broadcast format; DVB UHD-1 Phase 1, now in use. The DVB group is currently preparing the requirements for a second phase system that will allow additional features such as high dynamic range and high frame rate.
Also at the 4K World Summit will be the BBC Academy’s King, who will be taking part in the ‘4K Industry snapshots and discussion’ round table. Kind is responsible for the strategic relationship between BBC Engineering and BBC Television, one of the largest content producers in the UK, covering drama, factual, entertainment and comedy as well as the technology which supports television’s commissioning, scheduling and operations.
