M-net selects ABOX42 for M-net IPTV service

German regional carrier M-net has selected the ABOX42 M20-Series smart set-top box platform for its new IPTV service M-net TVplus, which will be deployed across the M-net

German regional carrier M-net has selected the ABOX42 M20-Series smart set-top box platform for its new IPTV service M-net TVplus, which will be deployed across the M-net fibre in the south of Germany.

The ABOX42 M20 set-top box platform has already been deployed in various projects worldwide. For the German market the feature set was extended to support all functions required for the German operator market, such as local multistream recording on USB Flash devices or USB hard-disk drives, local time-shift support, HbbTV support for all essential German broadcaster, on-demand and catch-up TV offers as well as the integration of German’s leading VoD solution operated by maxdome.

Combining all essential ingredients for an advanced IPTV product and taking care of market specific requirements makes the product proposition very unique, according to ABOX42. The ABOX42 smart SDK can be extended to match specific market requirements, which will shorten project lead-times.

The ABOX42 M20 set top box platform in combination with Zattoo’s multiscreen white-label IPTV solution was selected by Deutsche Netzmarketing (DNMG) at the end of 2015 to offer a compelling end-to-end solution to all of its members. With M-net’s decision to adopt the solution and deploy it as multiscreen IPTV solution indicates a trend towards fully hosted and managed IPTV multiscreen solutions, and towards projects with less complexity for the operator and much shorter time to market.
