Techex and Skyline Communications have announced an extension of their technology partnership, aiming to accelerate the transition to the Dynamic Media Facility (DMF).
Building on their existing collaboration, the new solution integrates Techex’s tx darwin processing platform with the DataMiner xOps platform, providing operators with centralised visibility into service status, health and resource use of key tx darwin processing functions for dynamic MCR and distribution environments. Additionally, key lifecycle actions can be automated, including deploying tx darwin blueprints and scaling services to meet changes in demand.

Integrating with the DataMiner xOps platform extends that vision with orchestration and resource management capabilities that help customers maximise the value of their infrastructure investments.”
The integration provides a practical path for media organisations to drive their transition towards a Dynamic Media Facility (DMF), the European Broadcasting Union reference architecture for software-defined media infrastructure that can be dynamically reconfigured to meet changing production demands, said the company.
“Broadcasters have spent years overprovisioning for peak demand, running facilities where utilisation can sit under 10 per cent for most of the year,” said Thomas Gunkel, market director broadcast at Skyline Communications. “The Dynamic Media Facility gives the industry a blueprint for moving away from that model. But a blueprint alone doesn’t orchestrate anything. What’s been missing is the operational layer that can actually plan, allocate, and retire resources across that dynamic infrastructure, which is where this collaboration with Techex comes in.”
