Satline has announced the opening of a new UK data centre.
Aiming to enable faster and more reliable satellite connectivity for European satcom services, the facility provides enhanced performance and wider coverage for broadcast, IPTV and OTT users.
Designed to ingest satellite RF signals for conversion to IP streams, the new site allows data to be stored or originated for ultra-low latency distribution via users’ networks, CDNs or private connections, improving coverage, resilience and latency for all broadcast and IPTV workflows. The expansion supports two new satellite positions, 5°W and 28.2°E, expanding reach and strengthening connectivity across the continent.
Key features of the site include:
- L2 connectivity – Direct Layer 2 links provide high-speed data transfer and infrastructure that operates with virtually zero latency
- Tier 3 certification – guaranteeing uninterrupted service and security of stored data
- Scalable infrastructure – Designed for future growth, the new centre includes reserved capacity for additional satellite positions, extra server rack space and increased bandwidth. This allows rapid expansion to meet rising demand.
Gleb Sazanov, CEO of Satline, commented, “By opening a data centre in the United Kingdom, we’re taking an important step in strengthening satellite connectivity across Europe and beyond. We can now offer new satellite positions and world-class infrastructure, ensuring our clients experience the lowest possible latency and dependable performance—essential in today’s fast-evolving broadcasting and IPTV markets.”
The centre’s two new 5°W and 28.2°E (UK beam) downlink antennas offer extended reception range while virtual SAT>IP servers enable customisable solutions for processing and distribution, said the company. Support is provided for multiple extra satellite positions, expanding availability and ensuring rapid upscale to meet demand.
