HbbTV launches 2025-1 upgrade of Conformance Test Suite

The release includes over 3,000 test cases focused on HbbTV specifications, aiming to boost interoperability and lower costs

HbbTV has unveiled the latest version of its Conformance Test Suite.

A global initiative aiming to provide open standards for the delivery of advanced interactive TV services across broadband and broadcast networks, the association’s latest release incorporates all the necessary tests for the latest HbbTV specification, HbbTV 2.0.4 (TS 102 796 v1.7.1). The upgrade features enhanced coverage for accessibility features, DVB-I services, voice control functionalities and audio watermarking tests related to the HbbTV-ADB+TA2 specification.

3,361 test cases are included with the release, 3,120 of which are focused on HbbTV specifications with the rest covering related standards. Official approval has been granted for 2,653.

The update strengthens the Test Suite’s position as an essential resource for manufacturers, said HbbTV, ensuring compliance with the latest specifications and increasing consistency between implementations, aiming to reduce costs for broadcasters and application developers.

Chair of the HbbTV Association, Vincent Grivet, said, “HbbTV’s continuous commitment to refining and expanding the Test Suite is vital to ensuring the reliability, interoperability, and quality of HbbTV-compliant devices and services worldwide. With this latest release, we further support manufacturers, broadcasters and platform operators in delivering seamless, compelling, and state-of-the-art TV experiences for consumers.”
