HbbTV has released the latest version of its Conformance Test Suite. Version 2026-1 aims to deliver expanded coverage, quality improvements and additional functionality to reflect the evolving requirements of modern TV services, said the organisation.
The update features 3,439 test cases, 2,907 of which have been approved. Included for the first time, 64 newly approved tests aim to extend the Test Suite’s ability to evaluate performance in HbbTV-compliant devices. More than 180 test cases have received quality improvements, with updates that reflect real-world use cases and implementation patterns across the industry.
Additionally, new approved test cases covering the Media Source Extensions (MSE) API from the CTA WAVE project and covering Widevine DRM support secure standards-based media delivery. Test cases previously only available in the UK have also been integrated, widening applicability across regions.
Vincent Grivet, chair of the HbbTV Association, said, “HbbTV’s ongoing investment in expanding and refining the Test Suite is essential to ensuring the reliability, interoperability and quality of HbbTV-compliant devices and services worldwide. With Test Suite v2026-1, we continue to strengthen the foundations for secure, consistent and future-proof TV experiences across all markets.”
The Test Suite is available via registered test centres and to HbbTV members for use in their own facilities. More information on the upgrade is available at https://www.hbbtv.org/resource-library/testing-information-and-support/
