ENEX spreads word even wider with LiveU Matrix extension

The LiveU Matrix system enabled an ad hoc channel, allowing ENEX to expand its delivery of the Papal Conclave

The European News Exchange (ENEX) has expanded its LiveU Matrix deployment.

Addressing a requirement for an additional ad hoc channel for coverage of globally significant events, the news agency extended its use of the cloud-native IP content distribution platform for the first time during last month’s Papal Conclave.

ENEX traditionally uses the solution for its live feed delivery via three fixed channels to its membership of more than 50 global commercial news providers. Aiming to scale up capacity for the major worldwide broadcast, the ad hoc expansion enabled a fast and flexible solution, allowing dynamic and cost-effective content sharing. Members were able to take feeds across the weekend of the Conclave, with LiveU’s Matrix enabling the sharing and recording of low-latency live feeds in the cloud via browser.

The deployment follows the recent third renewal of ENEX’s contract with the company.

Adrian Wells, managing director, ENEX, said, ”LiveU is a market leader in live delivery. Most of our news media partners have decided themselves to utilise LiveU technology as part of their newsgathering capability. It makes perfect sense for ENEX to work with LiveU to leverage their solutions through the Matrix delivery network. LiveU continues to be a highly-valued and trusted technology collaborator.”

Zion Eilam, VP sales, EMEA, added, “LiveU is a trusted ENEX partner and is proud to be part of the ENEX Innovation Exchange, where technology providers and broadcasters collaborate to deliver future-ready solutions. Following the success of our innovation with ENEX, we are seeing growing adoption of similar large-scale IP distribution initiatives among other leading broadcasters, including within key European public broadcasting frameworks.”
