What impact have the current global uncertainties had on the company’s R&D and product development in recent months?
Current global uncertainties are a continued reminder that companies need to be resilient and efficient both operationally and technically. Agility is key; content creators need to be able to adapt to situations quickly, scaling up or down depending on requirements, using cost-effective, innovative workflows that allow them to produce more content with less.
At LiveU, we talk to our customers regularly and we continue to develop and expand our LiveU IP-video EcoSystem to provide the highest levels of efficiency. Underpinned by our robust, low-latency LRT (LiveU Reliable Transport) protocol, the LiveU EcoSystem, known for its contribution, production and distribution solutions, offers a powerful set of modular best-of-breed components that can be deployed and redeployed in a variety of workflows providing unprecedented flexibility for evolving production needs.
Our flexible, tailor-made remote production and IP workflows mean customers benefit from unique technology solutions.
What do you foresee as the biggest challenges in R&D and product development/deployment in the coming years?
Our recent acquisition of Actus Digital’s business and technology is one indication of our strategic direction. Aside from being a market leader in compliance logging and intelligent monitoring platforms, Actus Digital also has a strong R&D function that is well-versed in creating AI-enhanced products. We view AI as a key development domain, across many areas of our business and are committed to nurturing and acquiring the talent we believe we will need to help us deliver on our mission of helping our customers create more value from video.
AI is, however, just one focal point. Cloud-based agility, IP interoperability, ease-of-use and of course, connectivity performance and resilience remain core elements of our continuous improvement journey.
Where do you see the most opportune areas for innovation in your area of the market, and what tech/solutions will drive that development?
The adoption of IP workflows in combination with AI technology is driving the creation of innovative formats such as interactive and immersive experiences. This has created new opportunities for the industry and in LiveU’s case specifically, this innovation comes in the form of our connectivity solution LiveU IQ (LIQ).
Propelling connection, resiliency, and performance to previously unreachable heights, LIQ dynamically and intelligently switches mobile network operators on the fly. This is made possible by leveraging a trio of powerful and innovative decision-making solutions – historical transmission data, AI and eSIMs – to provide the highest performing network available in any location. LRT offers the best use of existing networks and LIQ utilises the best performing networks.
What are you working on currently that excites you as a product team, and what can we expect to see at IBC2025?
IBC2025 is set to be a real milestone for us and our customers. The pace of change, not only in technology, but in viewing habits, geo-political, socio-economic and the environmental matters demands that we, as industry-leading suppliers, step up a gear to help our customers adapt and thrive.
In response to this challenge, we’ll be bringing to market a quantum leap forward in terms of live and file-based acquisition, production, and distribution, extending the reach of the LiveU EcoSystem, while at the same time reducing complexity and content creation costs.
