Amazon, Sky sign “deal of the year”

Deal includes Sky customers in the UK, Ireland, Germany, Austria and Italy.

Amazon and Sky have signed a long-term partnership which will see Amazon Prime Video launch on Sky and NOW TV devices across Europe, while NOW TV and Sky Ticket will be carried on Fire TV.

The deal covers Sky customers in the UK, Ireland, Germany, Austria and Italy.

It means that in the UK, Sky viewers will now have access to every live Premier League fixture on Sky Sports, Prime Video and BT Sport without having to switch devices.

We’re pleased to be bringing our Prime Video app to Sky Q and NOW TV devices in time for the holidays,” said Jay Marine, vice president, Prime Video Worldwide.

According to analyst Paolo Pescatore, the partnership is the “deal of the year” as it will be a “huge blow to rivals” as Sky becomes the main destination for all of the key video streaming services.

“All in one place will strongly resonate with users and households providing a seamless experience across all screens. Inevitably, this will help Amazon drive Prime subscriptions within Sky households all across Europe.”
