Zixi returned to Las Vegas for NAB Show 2025 on the back of a successful recent collaboration with drone technology provider, Overwatch Aero. By integrating its technology with an onboard Jetson Nano device paired with a Zixi ground station, the deployment showcased the use of bonding low-bandwidth, lossy networks such as LTE, LEO (Starlink), and 5G to deliver reliable video feeds.
Commenting on the breakthrough, Marc Aldrich, CEO at Zixi, said: “This advancement enables new applications for live event contributions that were previously limited by network connectivity or reliability issues in live production scenarios. “With this solution, live video can be delivered reliably from remote locations at lower cost, where it was previously cost prohibitive, or quality was impaired.”

At the show, Zixi highlighted ways in which its solutions enable broadcast and live video workflows across the media and entertainment field, including broadcasters, content owners, sports organisations and OTT providers. drone
“We’ve heard customers are challenged by understanding the true cost of transitioning to IP and the lack of expertise in migrating traditional satellite workflows to IP-based solutions,” said Aldrich. “Broadcasters aim to replicate traditional workflows on IP and require new tools to make these solutions future-proof, supporting key standards and meeting the growing audience demand for live content. We provide customers with technology that simplifies the transition to IP by providing capabilities to integrate more easily with their existing workflow, such as seamless switching, SCTE manipulation, and hitless failover to improve efficiency and reliability. In addition, we provide visibility, transparency, and predictability into their workflow and costs, so businesses can make more informed decisions.”
Zixi anticipates the trend towards IP will continue, with industry needs increasing the pace of business transformation. “Our customers’ audience expectations are evolving to require more live local content and higher quality,” commented Aldrich. “This acceleration is being driven by a combination of evolving audience expectations with increased pressure for new revenue streams and better profitability, while improving control, predictability, and transparency in environments with aging technology limitations. Satellite and fibre technologies lack the flexibility and cost structure for many businesses, especially with ongoing changes such as the reallocation of the majority of C-band to 5G. The move to live IP video solutions provides businesses a path to improved quality, reliability, and security with a lower total cost of ownership.”
