The R&D and product development landscape 2025: Densitron

Mark Price, SVP sales and operations, EMEA & RoW, Densitron, explains why the company sees "tremendous opportunity" in solutions that combine advanced haptics, programmable displays, and seamless integration with existing broadcast systems

What impact have the current global uncertainties had on the company’s R&D and product development in recent months?

At Densitron, continuous investment in R&D is not just a strategy—it is fundamental to who we are. In times of geopolitical uncertainty and supply chain disruption, we do not pull back; we push forward. Innovation is our response to complexity.

Over the past two years, we have successfully brought to market breakthrough technologies, including the launch of our ProDeck Control System range that fuses high-resolution displays into a seamless, modular platform. Developed specifically for broadcast and production environments, ProDeck was engineered to tackle real-world challenges around space, ergonomics, and operator workload, while offering unmatched flexibility and customisation.

The launch of ProDeck marked a major milestone—not only for Densitron but also for the industry. It has redefined what’s possible for control surfaces, offering broadcasters new ways to simplify operations, improve efficiency, and elevate the user experience.

Alongside ProDeck, we continue to develop advanced solutions leveraging our tactile and haptic technologies—tailor-made for the evolving needs of the broadcast market. These innovations are not just about new products; they’re about empowering our customers to adapt and thrive, regardless of the external landscape.

What do you foresee as the biggest challenges in R&D and product development/deployment in the coming years?

One challenge we are already seeing is reduced R&D capacity within some of our customers’ organisations. In response, we are increasingly stepping in as a development partner—taking on specific stages of product design and integration as an extension of their internal teams. This approach allows them to accelerate time-to-market while concentrating their in-house resources on core revenue-generating initiatives.

Sustainability is another significant driver. As environmental considerations become embedded in broadcast and technology procurement, we are committed to designing solutions that prioritise energy efficiency and longer lifecycle components—without compromising on performance or escalating costs. We see this as an opportunity, not a trade-off.

Thirdly, and something that is not a new challenge to any of us, is attracting the right talent. Finding the right level of critical thinking and curiosity, coupled with the necessary work ethic and professionalism will always be a challenge, but one that we welcome, to push the boundaries of what we can achieve.

Where do you see the most opportune areas for innovation in your area of the market, and what tech/solutions will drive that development?

Our expertise lies in control and interaction—how broadcast professionals engage with their equipment every day. That is why we always start with one fundamental question: What does the best possible user experience look like for this task, and how do we make it better?

We see tremendous opportunity in evolving tactile control technologies—specifically, solutions that combine advanced haptics, programmable displays, and seamless integration with existing broadcast systems.

As broadcast environments grow more complex, operators demand intuitive, ergonomic solutions that enhance workflow. Every new product in our tactile and ProDeck ranges have sparked strong market interest, and we expect that momentum to continue at IBC2025, where we’ll unveil the next evolution of our technology. We’re confident it will redefine expectations once again.

What are you working on currently that excites you as a product team, and what can we expect to see at IBC2025?

Right now, we are advancing our next-generation tactile and haptic control solutions—technologies that are already capturing the imagination of broadcast professionals worldwide.

What excites us most is not just the technology itself—it is the reaction from customers when they see these innovations in action. Whether it’s at trade shows or private demos, we consistently see instant brainstorming sessions spark as they realise how these solutions can unlock new workflows and solve real-world challenges.

That is the heart of our R&D approach—listening closely, identifying genuine gaps, and developing intuitive solutions that enhance daily operations. Visitors to IBC2025 can expect to see our most advanced tactile control product yet—designed to meet the demands of today’s fast-paced broadcast environments. We can’t wait to reveal it.
