Grass Valley drives IP and UHD transition at RMC BFM

The collaboration marks the latest stage in the companies' relationship as RMC BFM invests in scalable, future-ready live production

RMC BFM has selected Grass Valley’s solutions for its modernisation programme.

Aiming to renew one of its main production galleries, France’s third-largest private media group, RMC BFM – part of the CMA-CGM Group – has deployed Grass Valley’s production switcher and multiviewer solutions.

The renewed infrastructure is based around Grass Valley’s K-Frame SXP production switcher 192×92 full 2110/full UHD), paired with a 3-stripe Kayenne control surface and a 1-stripe Kayenne satellite panel. Seven Kaleido X440 2110 multiviewers complement the system, aiming to provide seamless UHD monitoring in an IP environment.

Scheduled to go on air in January 2026, the deployment expands a long-standing partnership between the companies. David Grimal, broadcast CTO at RMC BFM, commented, “We needed to transition to UHD without compromise on performance or capacity. The move to IP, based on a Cisco backbone, brought new challenges, but Grass Valley’s solutions gave us confidence to manage this shift effectively. Kaleido-IP was a logical step forward for us.”

Quentin Berthet, Broadcast Infrastructure Manager at RMC BFM, added, “Shifting from Kahuna to K-Frame XP is not just a technical upgrade, but also a change in mindset and production capabilities. Grass Valley has been a trusted partner throughout this transition, ensuring interoperability and providing the tools we need to deliver UHD content with reliability and flexibility.”

For Grass Valley, the project marks one of the first transitions in France from Kahuna to K-Frame XP. Future upgrades of additional RMC BFM galleries are being considered.

Carlos Ferreira, VP of sales, South and Central Europe at Grass Valley, said, “RMC BFM’s move to IP and UHD is a landmark project for the French market. We’re proud to support their journey with solutions that not only meet today’s requirements but also provide a scalable foundation for future upgrades. This collaboration reinforces Grass Valley’s role as a trusted partner for customers evolving their production facilities.”
