Broadcast Solutions tackles Danish football coverage with new broadcast centre for DMC Production

The facility provides Matchday Production with comprehensive remote production infrastructure and facilities, said the company

Broadcast Solutions has announced details of a new remote production facility for DMC Production.

Formed as a partnership between DMC Production and Superligaen A/S, Danish football’s governing body, Matchday Production is responsible for the production of more than 800 matches a year. To facilitate this, Broadcast Solutions was brought in to develop a new production centre, based in a Copenhagen shopping mall.

Built around the Grass Valley Kahuna switcher, the centre has four main control rooms with capacity for up to 40 cameras. Additionally, five smaller galleries are available for one or two person operation. On-site facilities are supported by four vehicles and four flypacks, with control for the Grass Valley LDX 98 cameras and Lawo audio mixers.

Live capture and slo-mo replays are provided by an EVS server network and asset management uses Grass Valley’s Framelight X. Broadcast Solutions’ hi human interface control solution manages the entire infrastructure, including Cisco IP switches and Riedel SDI routers.

All signals from stadiums are routed across fibre using SMPTE ST 2110 IP streams. Conversion between incoming and outgoing feeds and the internal SDI architecture is handled by Riedel Mediornet.

Paul Henriksen Heitmann, CEO of DMC Production, said, “With the rare chance of a blank sheet of paper to design both workflows and facilities, we have been able to deliver fully on all the benefits of remote production. Staff working in familiar surroundings perform better and are more productive, allowing us to cover far more games than could possibly be shown using old-fashioned models.”

Coverage of the first game, between AGF Aarhus and Midtjylland, was provided by Matchday, opening the season on 19th July.
